Brazil Task Force: contributions of RTRS Members to the 2027 Strategic Plan

On September 11th, the second in-person meeting of the Task Force Brazil, organised by the RTRS, took place at the Bunge office in São Paulo. The event brought together around 40 local representatives from almost 30 member organisations and RTRS certificate holders. The purpose of the meeting was to identify emerging issues and listen to the demands of Brazilian members in order to help shape the RTRS strategic plan in Brazil.

This meeting followed the strategic planning review process that began in Lucerne, Switzerland, last June, where around 30 RTRS members participated in working sessions that resulted in the redesign of the new four strategic pillars of the plan, which will be presented and approved at the General Assembly to be held in Ghent, Belgium, next November.

In Brazil, local representatives had the opportunity to analyse and enrich these outcomes, incorporating a regional perspective that will contribute to RTRS’s Action Plan in the country for the coming year.

The meeting was moderated by Luiza Bruscato, RTRS Global Executive Director, and consultant Tanya Stergiou, from Target Teal, who guided participants through a collaborative dynamic to build this Work Plan.

During the event, members of the Brazil Task Force were invited to reflect on how they could contribute to achieving the RTRS global objectives.

According to Bruscato, “the contributions from participants at this meeting were extremely valuable. Based on their local perspectives and commitment to the sector’s agenda, key aspects were highlighted that will enable RTRS to position itself even more effectively towards its priority objectives for the next three years.”

Henrique Fiorese, owner of the Nossa Senhora Aparecida farm and coordinator of the task force representing Producers, stated: “I believe the interaction and sharing of ideas and insights between participants were very positive, and I think this should be a model to follow in future meetings. It gives us the opportunity to discuss topics of interest in a deeper and more participatory way, or even address new issues that may arise.”

Regarding the main contributions that Brazilian organisations can offer to RTRS, Fiorese highlighted the potential to connect financial resources, innovations, and knowledge with RTRS’s goals, aligning the planning to increasingly meet the needs of both producers and consumers.

All comments, suggestions, and recommendations raised during the meeting will be considered and documented for presentation at the next Brazil Task Force meeting. The meeting is exclusively for RTRS members or RTRS certified organisations. Learn how to become a member by clicking here.
