Bunge joins RTRS as Gold Sponsor at the RTRS 2024 International Conference
The Round Table on Responsible Soy (RTRS) once again welcomes Bunge as a Gold Sponsor of the RTRS International Conference 2024 – “Towards a Regenerative Transition.” The conference will take place on November 19 and 20 at Oude Vismijn (Old Fishmine) in Ghent, Belgium. This will be the third time that Bunge, one of the leading global agribusiness and food companies, sponsors this global and multistakeholder meeting.
Bunge, recognized as one of the leading global agribusiness companies and a leader in oilseed processing, reaffirms its commitment to sustainability by sponsoring the International Conference again. The company highlights the importance of dialogue and collaboration in the soybean value chain and understands this interaction as a key element to promote more sustainable, digital, and intelligent agriculture.
Bunge’s Commitment to RTRS principles and criteria
Bunge has committed to achieving deforestation-free supply chains by 2025. To reach this goal, it has implemented a robust socio-environmental supplier verification system, which includes monitoring over 19,000 farms covering approximately 27 million hectares in South America. In addition, it offers the market a wide portfolio of deforestation-free certified products, providing additional assurances to its customers and fostering consumer confidence in food products, animal nutrition ingredients, and biofuels.
Since 2007, Bunge has been a member of RTRS and, since 2022, has acted as manager for two groups of certified producers in Brazil: Bunge Alimentos S.A – Group I and Bunge Alimentos S.A – Group II. As a result, in 2023, the two producer groups of Bunge were responsible for over 590,000 tons of RTRS certified soybeans in Brazil.
Moreover, the company certified 49 locations, including warehouses, ports, and processing plants for soybeans and their derivatives, under the RTRS Chain of Custody Standard. This allows Bunge to receive, process, and market RTRS certified physical soybeans in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Europe, and Paraguay.
