The webinar was an initiative of the Transparency and Compliance Working Group of the Sustainable Soy Alliance (in Portuguese, Aliança da Soja Sustentável), whose objective is to coordinate and drive actions to promote sustainability in the soy supply chain in the MATOPIBA region in Brazil.

Moderated by Heleen Van Den Hombergh from the Collaborative Soy Initiative, the session featured the following guest speakers:

  • Petra Ascher Director at Agrichains, GIZ Brasil
  • James Allen, Executive Director at Olab
  • Taísa Baldassa, Project Manager at Proforest
  • Andre M Nassar, Executive President at Abiove
  • Jan Börner, Professor at The University of Bonn

The Sustainable Soy Alliance is an initiative developed by the project “Sustainability and Value Creation in Agricultural Supply Chains,” a cooperation between the global Agrichains program of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, implemented by GIZ Brazil in partnership with the Government of Maranhão, and supported by BMZ Germany. The initiative is jointly coordinated with the Round Table on Responsible Soy Association (RTRS), IDH BR, and CLI – Corredor Logística e Infraestrutura S.A., with Amsel & Ara as a knowledge partner.
