Innovations and visions for the future: shaping responsible soy

The RTRS 2024 International Conference will provide a platform for examining regenerative agriculture from both field and corporate perspectives. Sessions 5 and 6 will feature producers and corporate leaders discussing practical approaches and strategic insights that showcase how regenerative practices are shaping a more sustainable future for soy.

Titled “Towards a Regenerative Transition,” the conference will take place on November 19th and 20th at Oude Vismijn in Ghent, Belgium. This event offers a unique opportunity for industry professionals, producers, and researchers to come together and explore key topics in soy production and trade.

On the first day, five sessions are planned. In previous communications, we shared details about the first two sessions, which cover the latest updates on EUDR implementation, the emerging regulatory landscape for soy, and sectoral initiatives for system change. We also highlighted Sessions 3 and 4, which delve into the evolving world of Regenerative Agriculture. Now, we’ll explore Sessions 5 and 6, both of which will be moderated by James Allen, Executive Director at Olab.

In Session 5, Innovations: highlighting changes that can increase performance and opportunities, industry leaders will introduce the innovations transforming the future of soy. From cutting-edge field technologies to advanced data management solutions and the expansion of new non-food markets, speakers will explore how these breakthroughs are unlocking new levels of performance and potential for soy.

  • Matteo Cunial, Chief Revenue Officer at xFarm Technologies, will discuss intelligent management tools at the farm level.
  • Allison Kopf, CEO at Tract, will address data-driven solutions for end-to-end supply chain management.
  • Michelle Morton, Independent Consultant, will explore soy’s growing role in biofuels and the chemical industry.

In Session 6, Visions for the future: what can responsible soy look like?, a panel of experts will share their visions and explore from different sectoral point of views about what responsible soy can be in the near future, including sharing thoughts about the value and role of RTRS.

The session will feature:

  • Taciano Custódio, Head of Sustainability South America at Rabobank, will offer insights on sustainable financing.
  • Juliana de Lavor Lopes, ESG, Communication, and Compliance Director at Amaggi, will provide perspectives from a trader and producer viewpoint.
  • Ariel Zorrilla, Director Brazil at Preferred by Nature, will present the vision of an international NGO on responsible soy.
  • Luiza Bruscato, Global Executive Director at RTRS, will share RTRS’s perspective on the future of sustainable soy.
