New platinum Sponsor: GIZ’s Project AgriChains Brazil joins RTRS 2024 International Conference
Project AgriChains Brazil, implemented by GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit), the German International Cooperation Agency, is joining RTRS as a new platinum sponsor for the 2024 International Conference.
Project AgriChains Brazil believes that the RTRS international conference offers an ideal platform for feeding Agrichains’ experiences and lessons learned from the concrete project implementation in Brazil into the debate on greater sustainability in the soy supply chain, and for developing viable and consensus-oriented solutions for a sustainable soy sector. It provides a great opportunity for in-person interaction, updating our knowledge, and collaborating to drive together the soy production, trade, and use towards greater sustainability. RTRS is a key strategic partner for AgriChains Brazil. A strategic partnership was formalised in 2021 as part of a memorandum of understanding. This forms the basis for successful collaboration in many areas, working towards greater sustainability in the Brazilian soy supply chain.
The view of GIZ’s Global Programme ‘Sustainability and Value Added in Agricultural Supply Chains’ (AgriChains) is that only a comprehensive multi-stakeholder dialogue involving the actors along the entire supply chain of major agricultural commodities may lead to their necessary transformation towards more sustainability, transparency, and inclusiveness. This view is fully aligned with RTRS’s mission to promote the growth on production, trade, and use of responsible soy through cooperation with actors in and relevant to the soy value chain from production to consumption in an open dialogue with stakeholders.

GIZ´s Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains Initiative
GIZ implements a wide range of sustainability projects for its clients worldwide. One example is the global programme ‘Sustainability and Value Addition in Agricultural Supply Chains (AgriChains)’. This BMZ-funded programme is working in 11 countries to improve the sustainability of selected commodity supply chains (bananas, cotton, coffee, cocoa, natural rubber, palm oil and soya). In Brazil, the AgriChains programme focuses on the soya supply chain in the Cerrado biome in the state of Maranhão and in the neighbouring regions.
AgriChains is part of the Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains Initiative (SASI). SASI is committed to an economically, socially, and ecologically sustainable transformation of global agricultural supply chains. In collaboration with policymakers, the private sector and civil society, SASI puts sustainability issues on the agenda and shapes political discourse. SASI supports the implementation of EU regulations and highlights opportunities within this framework, thus promoting corporate responsibility that goes beyond legal requirements.
