RTRS welcomes the Nisshin Oillio Group and Redefine Meat EMEA BV
These food companies joined in March and April this year as part of the Industry, Trade and Finance constituency. They have become members because they share the principles and criteria of the Association and because they seek to strengthen their commitment to environmental sustainability.
The Nisshin OilliO Group has been aiming to enrich and improve people’s health and well-being for 117 years in Japan. It does so by producing oils and fats, processed foods and materials, and fine chemicals. The company devotes efforts to achieve solutions that create diverse value and works for the realization of a sustainable global society.
“The Nisshin OilliO Group is committed to environmental sustainability through our own soybean sourcing policy. As a responsible member from the soybean community, our participation in RTRS reinforces our commitment,” said Hitoshi Kyuma, Executive Director, General Manager, Oilseed Processing Management.
Redefine Meat EMEA BV, of the Netherlands, seeks to replicate the traditional meat experience, using plant-based ingredients, especially soybeans, in an environmentally friendly way. They use quality, state-of-the-art ingredients to manufacture a wide range of products, including premium cuts, ground and comminuted products. These are served in restaurants, hotels and in many retail outlets across Europe.
“Redefine Meat was founded out of a love for meat and a deep concern for the environment and communities. We use plant-based ingredients, including soy, to produce plant-based meat that appeals to a diverse set of customers, from carnivores to vegetarians, and from flexitarians to vegans,” said Eshchar Ben-Shitrit, Redefine Meat co-founder and CEO.
“While the benefits of soy as a healthy and versatile ingredient are clear, we need to make sure it becomes increasingly sustainable. As we share the values that guide RTRS, we are proud to join and help create a more sustainable, equitable and viable global food system for the sake of current and future generations,” said Ben-Shitrit.
