RTRS welcomes 5 new members in 2018

In the first semester 2018, 5 new organizations joined the Round Table on Responsible Soy Association (RTRS), which now has total of 184 members.

New RTRS members representing the Industry, Trade and Finance constituency are METRO AG, a multinational retail chain based in Düsseldorf, Germany; Exportadora Los Fiordos Ltda, a salmon producer in Chile and Quorn Foods, a vegetarian food producer in United Kingdom. SOYTOUCH Association from France and Fundación Proyungas, from Argentina, joined the RTRS representing the Producers and the Civil Society constituencies, respectively.

German wholesale company METRO AG is currently defining its soy supply chain policy and action plan,and joins RTRS not only to share its knowledge and experience with other members, but also to ratify its commitment to sustainable supply chains.

Seeking to maintain a high sustainability standard in salmon production and in line with the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), Exportadora Los Fiordos Ltda., joins RTRS to strengthen its commitment to using RTRS certified soy in the aquaculture industry.

Along these lines, and representing the Industry constituency, Quorn Foods joins RTRS in order to ensure the responsible supply of its vegetarian food products sold under the brand Cauldron.

SOYTOUCH, a French Association that brings together 20 local soy producers, joins RTRS to leverage its commitment to quality and to the sustainable production of its globally renowned GMO-free soy.

For the purpose of promoting sustainable social development, biodiversity conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources in areas of high sensitivity environmental and social, Argentine civil association Fundación Proyungas, joins RTRS to participate in its global, multistakeholder dialogue forum.

Chilean company Exportadora Los Fiordos Ltda. started to operate in 1989. It produces Atlantic and Coho salmon using a 100% integrated process across all the stages in the productive cycle: breeding and reproduction, fresh water, fattening, processing, marketing and feed for their own fish.

In line with its commitment to sustainable production, the company signed its second Memorandum of Understanding with World Wildlife Found (WWF), by which it undertakes to participate in Fishery Improvement Projects (FIP’s) to give Chilean fisheries the opportunity to be certified under the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standard, thus promoting sustainable local development.

With headquarters in North Yorkshire, United Kingdom, Quorn Foods is a brand of meat-free products of Marlow Foods. The company owns the vegetarian brands Quorn and Cauldron. All Quorn products are made with Quorn’s proprietary ingredient, called Mycoprotein and Cauldron vegetarian food products.
