RTRS welcomes Tyson Foods, Inc, Restaurant Brands International (RBI), Avena Nordic Grain Oy, Vall Companys, CDP, Imaflora and Geofarm.

Seven new organizations joined the Round Table on Responsible Soy Association (RTRS) in the last quarter of 2019. From the Industry, Trade and Finance constituency: Tyson Foods Inc., the world’s second largest chicken, beef and pork processor and trader based in the US; Vall Companys, leading group in the agri-food sector in Spain and Portugal; Avena Nordic Grain Oy, Finland’s leading trader in grains and oilseeds and Restaurant Brands International (RBI), headquartered in Canada, owner of three quick service restaurant brands: BURGER KING®, TIM HORTONS® y POPEYES®. Also, CDP – Carbon Disclosure Project, an international non-profit organization that drives companies and governments to protect the environment, joined RTRS in the Civil Society constituency. Brazilian organizations Imaflora – the Institute for Forest and Agricultural Management and Certification and Geofarm Precision Agriculture applied for RTRS membership as Observers.

“RBI made a commitment to eliminating deforestation from its global supply chain by 2030 and much remains to be done with many of our suppliers. We decided to join RTRS in order to understand which is the best way to turn commitments into action.” Natalie Pecile, RBI Sustainability Manager

“We will acquire RTRS certified material for the soybean meal used to feed chickens in our supply chain, which generally comes from areas identified as ‘high risk’. In addition, we hope to identify other opportunities to work with RTRS in order to guarantee sustainable soy practices globally ”. Maggie Jo Hansen, Senior Commodity Analyst, International and Sustainability at Tyson Foods

“CDP recognizes that credible certification schemes and collaborative platforms such as RTRS contribute significantly to solving the problem of commodity-driven deforestation. One way in which CDP supports RTRS mission is encouraging companies in the soybean value chains to obtain this certification and get involved with the platform by integrating into the reporting process.” Sareh Forouzesh, CDP Forests Executive Manager

“Our purpose is to offer RTRS certification combined with the Rainforest Alliance Certified Seal, so that soybean producers and companies seek to improve their social and environmental performance.” Tharic Galuchi, Head of Agricultural Certification at Imaflora

These seven new members join Sligro Food Group B.V. (Netherlands), Jerónimo Martins SGPS, S.A. (Portugal), AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG (Germany), Dairy Crest Group PLC (United Kingdom) and Agricontrol – OIA Brasil Certificações (Brazil) that joined the association in the first half of the year.
