The Revision of the RTRS Standard for Responsible Soy Production has been completed
The RTRS Standard for Responsible Soy Production, guarantees that RTRS soy not only complies with the highest environmental criteria, but also with a broad set of social and labor requirements. Latest approved version 2017.
In mid-2020, the Round Table on Responsible Soy Association (RTRS) began the process of reviewing the RTRS Standard for Responsible Soy Production V3.1 as part of its commitment to continuous improvement and in compliance with ISEAL’s Codes of Good Practice, which promote the development of effective, transparent and multisectoral sustainability standards.
In order to carry out the standard revision process, two public consultations were held whereby more than 200 comments and observations were gathered, and then reviewed by the Working Group (WG) created for this purpose.
In line with the Association’s multi-stakeholder approach, all three RTRS constituencies were equitably represented in the Working Group: Producers; Industry, Trade and Finance, and Civil Society. In addition, experts and certification bodies participated as observers.
Between September 2020 and June 2021, the WG participated in 12 virtual meetings facilitated by the international consultancy firm BSD Consulting, with the support of RTRS Secretariat throughout the process.
Once the review has been completed, the Association produced a draft version of the RTRS Standard for Responsible Soy Production V.4.0, which was approved by the Executive Board´s member at its meeting on September 1st, 2021.
Some time in October/ November 2021, the new version of the Standard will be submitted to the vote of RTRS Participating Members for final approval.
